Acrylic Painting Classes at Nursing Homes, Day Cares, Residential Facilities, etc.:
*Updated & Effective September 2026
***Please note this information regards scheduling classes with me at locations such as Nursing Homes, Assisted Care Facilities, Senior Centers, Group Homes, Day Cares, IDD facilities, Residential Facilities, etc. for the residents/students of the Facility. These classes are strictly for the residents/students as well as anyone else involved such as staff, nursing staff, teachers, family members, etc. These types of classes are NOT meant to be open to the public or as way to make profit for the facility/organization. These classes are meant to be an activity or enrichment opportunity for the residents/students so that they do not have to leave the location, as I can come right to you. These can be continuous classes or one-time classes.
These guidelines are slightly different from hosting a Private Paint Party or a Fundraiser Paint Party. If you are looking to host a Private Paint Party that is not affiliated with any of the previously mentioned programs, or host a Fundraiser Paint Party to support one of these organizations, please let me know so I can provide the appropriate information***
Someone from the facility must be the contact person for scheduling classes with me (program coordinator, employee, activity director, manager, owner, etc.) as I will not communicate classes with someone from outside the organization about classes at the organization (unless the organization gives permission for a third party representative to handle scheduling and details).
Classes generally range from 1.5 hrs - 3 hrs from start to finish, depending on the lesson and how many participants are present.
Please allow me to arrive and set up at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class. If we are expecting a large amount of participants (25+ participants) I may want to arrive even earlier for the additional set up time. Someone from the facility/organization must be present to meet me and show me where class will be taking place.
The facility must be able to accommodate the amount of people taking class in one room without being too crammed.
The facility/space must have access to a sink and water for me to clean out brushes after class.
The facility is responsible for securing tables, chairs, tablecloths/covers, and trash cans/bags. Different facilities have different sizes of tables so ensure the table covers you get cover the entire surface of the tables. I am not responsible or liable if participants get paint anywhere or make messes on tables, floors, etc.
I highly recommend having staff members present to assist any residents/participants in painting if they have difficulties following along or taking direction. I will certainly help and assist each participant as much as possible, but there is only one of me and it’s helpful to have assistance if needed so that we do not get too far behind.
Be aware that painting can be messy. It is recommended to have participants wear something they don’t mind getting paint on as paint shirts, aprons, clothing covers are NOT provided by me. The facility /organization/participants may use their own paint shirts, aprons, covers, etc. if they’d like.
Participants are welcome to have food, snacks, beverages, etc. during class if the facility allows for it.
If planning to schedule a Painting Class, please contact me to schedule at least a week in advance to ensure my availability and so that I can make sure my lessons, materials, and supplies are ready.
If booking with less notice than a week in advance, you must choose one of my pre-made lessons. I WILL NOT be able make any custom designs for groups scheduling with less than a 7-day notice.
Price:
$150 per session
(I do not require a minimum or maximum number of participants for these types of classes. However, please ensure that whatever space we are using can comfortably fit the amount of people participating while also giving me room to maneuver the room and assist the participants.)
My instructor fee is $150 to teach a full class ranging from 1.5-3 hours. This fee does NOT include me bringing supplies. If I am required to bring my supplies (canvas, paint, paper towels, paper plates) there will be a supply fee ranging from $5-$15 per participant depending on what all I will need to bring, in addition to my $150 booking fee. This can be discussed at time of planning. If I am bringing supplies, I will need to know an approximate number of participants at least 3 days in advance so that I can ensure I prepare and bring enough supplies.
However, I can provide the non-expendable supplies such as paint brushes, chalk, black permanent markers, pencils, etc. for the lesson WITHOUT the additional fee if you choose to provide the rest of the expendable necessary supplies such as Paint, Canvas, Paper Towels, and Paper Plates. I can also give paint color list and detailed supply list whenever the group chooses the lesson and I can provide links to reputable paint sets and bulk supplies of canvas that will last multiple classes.
*If booking a class for the first time at the facility, I DO offer to bring the Painting Supplies at NO ADDITIONAL cost for up to 20 participants ($5 per additional participant beyond the first 20). This is only for a first class at a facility as a trial run to see if it is a good fit without the facility having to spend money on the supplies. AFTER the first class, if the facility wants to continue classes with me, they will need to have the supplies or pay my additional fee to provide supplies going forward.
**Please note that I may charge a fee for classes outside of Ashtabula County due to travel expenses and travel duration. This fee may range between $25-$50+. Locations approximately 30-40 minutes away from me in Ashtabula Township will average about $25. Locations approximately 45 minutes - an hour away will be closer to $50.
Lesson:
The organization is to notify me of which lesson the group would like to do at least 3 days prior to the class so that I can properly plan my lesson. 7+ days in advance if requesting me to create a new lesson instead of choosing from one of my pre-made designs.
Only one lesson can be taught per group. However, many lessons allow for custom colors to be used and minor changes to be made. I.e. number and placement of trees, birds, etc.
Lessons can be chosen from any of my past or upcoming lessons. To view my lessons, click this link.
Images found online can also be sent to me to create a custom lesson if sent at least a week in advance. If I create a custom lesson for your group, I reserve the right to use that lesson made for future public, private, and fundraiser classes.
Payment
Payments may be made the day of class. I can accept cash, check, or Venmo. I can also fill out a 1099 contract form and provide invoices for each session if the facility requires that information. If I contract through the facility with a 1099, I am open to being on a Pay Roll schedule or to pick up a check at a later date if necessary. Full payments must be made before I leave class unless I am 1099 contracting and on a Pay Roll schedule.
If paying in cash, please pay in exact change of the $150 (plus supply fee if I’m bringing supplies) as I do not carry change. Any additional pay will be considered a tip.
If paying by check, please make it out to “Chris Davis”
If paying via Venmo, my account is @Chris-Davis-1131
***I do NOT accept Debit/Credit cards***
Cancellations/Rescheduling
If the class must be cancelled or rescheduled, please try to notify me immediately via Phone, Facebook Messenger, or email at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the class. If something comes up such as sudden bad weather, medical emergency, etc. that class needs to be cancelled due to, please contact me as soon as possible, even if its right before the start of class.
If I must cancel class for any reason, I will contact the person who schedules with me as soon as possible.
