This page will contain information about my upcoming public art classes. Public Art Classes may be at different locations throughout Ashtabula County & Northeast Ohio so please look at the class descriptions to see locations and registration information.
Some classes are for children and some classes are adult only, or are offered for both children and adults. Parents/Guardians are always welcome to stay during kids classes.
A few notes on registering for public classes:
Please make note of the location & time of the class you wish to attend. I offer classes at multiple different locations throughout Northeast Ohio and each location has different registration guidelines.
Please note that I DO NOT handle registration for ANY of my classes. Messaging/emailing/commenting to me specifically does NOT count as registering for a class, you must register as directed in the specific class descriptions through the venues that classes are offered at.
Please do not wait until last minute to sign up for classes you wish to take. Seating is generally limited in most classes. Also, if there is not enough sign ups to conduct a class within a few days of the class beginning, the class is usually cancelled or postponed.
Walk ins are generally not permitted in my classes unless specified. If you are not registered for class prior to the day of class, there will not be an open seat set up for you. I only set up for the number of registered participants. You will most likely not be able to participate UNLESS open seats are available due to no-shows AND I have enough supplies.
If you register for a class that you cannot attend or no longer wish to take, please contact the venue of where the class is being hosted for a refund. Each venue has different policies on timelines for refunds. If you register for a class and do not show up without attempting to contact the venue either via phone call, voicemail, email, social media, etc., you WILL NOT receive a refund for the class.

Join Paradise Bay in Roaming Shores, Ohio for an evening of painting and drinks! Instructor Chris Davis will guide participants step by step through this wintery truck painting. Participants may use whatever colors they’d like and may customize their paintings. This is a beginner friendly class and no prior experience is required. All supplies for the class are provided, including 8x10 canvas, as well as a drink! Additional drinks and food may also be purchased to be enjoyed during class!

***INTRO TO WINTER LANDSCAPE PAINTING with ACRYLICS***
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this three part class going over the basics of painting winter landscapes with acrylic paints! For the first session, Chris will be going over techniques to paint different trees, snow, mountains, rivers, etc. while walking participants step by step through this full painting together. Techniques such as paint layering, blending, and mixing will be covered in this course. Topics such as composition, color theory, and contrast within landscape art will also be touched on.
For the second and third class, participants will bring in any reference pictures they want of winter landscapes and paint it with the skills and techniques they learn from the first class! Chris will help everyone individually with their paintings. All supplies are provided, including two 11x14 canvases (participants are welcome to bring their own canvas if they prefer a different size for the second and third session). By the end of this course, participants will have two paintings!
Dates: Thursdays January 8, 15, & 22, 2026 at 6:00pm-8:00pm (first session will most likely run a little longer)

***DRAWING & COLORING SKILLS WORKSHOP with Mr. Davis*** --CUSTOMIZED SNOWMEN--
Join Mr. Davis for this one-day workshop covering techniques on drawing a custom snowman!
For this session, Mr Davis will demonstrate how to create a snowman base by drawing basic shapes. Participants will be able to fully customize their own snowman drawing (facial expressions, wardrobe, props, etc.) and Mr. Davis will assist and give individual demonstration where necessary. Mr. Davis will demonstrate crayon coloring techniques for blending colors, shading, and layering. This class is open to adults and children age 5+. This is a beginner friendly class and would make for fun family time together!

***SKILLS & TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP*** -DRAWING with ONE-POINT PERSPECTIVE-
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this one-day workshop covering techniques on sketching outdoor scenes using one-point perspective with a vanishing point.
For this session, Chris will demonstrate how to create a nature drawing, focusing on how to achieve depth with perspective in roads/railroads, architecture, fences, and trees. Participants will practice the techniques demonstrated and Chris will help where needed. Participants will be able to create as many practice sketches in this workshop as they'd like, time permitting.
*Please note, this class is primarily on practicing perspective sketching and utilizes a shorthand loose style of sketching to block in lines and shapes. This class has some very basic value blocking but does not focus on shading or contrast.

***HOMESAFE PAINT PARTY FUNDRAISER***
Join Homesafe in it's first Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts Sip & Paint Fundraiser! Proceeds from this event will help provide survivors with housing, medical care, food, mental health services, legal help, education, and basic necessities. Instructor Chris Davis will be guiding participants through their own butterfly themed painting step by step! Participants will be able to customize their paintings to their liking, having as many or as few butterflies in their painting as they’d like. Participants may also use whatever colors they want for their entire picture. All supplies for the painting are provided, including 11x14 canvas. A beverage ticket is also included! This is a beginner friendly class, no prior painting experience required.

***MADDOX & FRIENDS PAINT PARTY FUNDRAISER***
I'm very excited to be partnering with Maddox and friends cat rescue for another Paint Party Fundraiser! Join us at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Conneaut, Ohio! I will be guiding participants through this Valentine’s Day themed Cat family painting step by step! Participants will be able to customize their paintings, using whatever colors they want for the entire picture! Participants may have as many or few cats in their picture as they’d like and may paint their canvas vertically or horizontally. All supplies for the painting are provided, including 8x10 canvas. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be included but participants may bring their own snacks, drinks, alcoholic beverages, etc. if they wish.
This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience is required. I will demonstrating the techniques to create the full painting and will be able to assist participants if needed.

***SKILLS & TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP*** --SHADOWS & LIGHT SOURCES with ACRYLIC PAINT--
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this two-day workshop covering different techniques on painting shadows from light sources. This class will also touch on color mixing, blending, and layering with Acrylic Paints.
In this class, Chris will demonstrate how to create shadows and highlights in artwork in various scenarios, such as in still life compositions and in basic landscapes. Participants will practice the techniques demonstrated and Chris will help where needed. Chris will also address common painting mistakes and how to correct them.
For the first session, participants will learn how to paint a simple still life object with varying light sources at different angles. Chris will demonstrate a handful of techniques and different ways to achieve results.
For the second session, participants will expand of these skills and will learn how to create shadows in a landscape based on sun/moon light sources.
This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience is required. All supplies necessary for the class are provided.

***MINIMALIST FLOWER PAINTING WORKSHOP***
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this one-day workshop covering techniques on painting miniature minimalistic flowers using watercolor paints.
For this session, Chris will demonstrate how to create these miniature flower paintings on cardstock. Participants will practice the techniques demonstrated and Chris will help where needed. Participants may practice as much and as many flowers as they choose during the time frame and may bring photos of flowers to use as reference. By the end of this session, participants will leave with their practice pages as well as up to four complete flower paintings on 4x6 paper. All supplies for this class are provided. This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience required.
The techniques covered in this class are excellent for making simple flower paintings for greeting cards, scrapbooking, junk journaling, or to frame and hang up!

***PAINTING SKILLS WORKSHOP: DELICIOUS DESSERTS***
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this one-day workshop to create your own custom delicious dessert themed painting using acrylic paints! Chris will demonstrate how to draw and paint different dessert items such as cookies, donuts, cake, cupcakes, donuts, ice cream, etc.The whole painting is fully customizable: participants may use whatever colors they would like for the entire picture, may put whatever desserts they would like in their picture, and may compose their desserts however they wish. Participants of this class will learn how to create their own custom dessert painting from a blank canvas, including techniques on freehand sketching a basic still life dessert composition and will utilize acrylic painting techniques such as color layering, blending, and mixing.
All supplies for the class are provided, including participants choice of 11x14 canvas or slate (if available). Feel free to bring snacks and wine! This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience required! Participants are welcome to bring reference photos of desserts they'd like to replicate.

***SKILLS & TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP*** --PAINTING TREES with ACRYLIC PAINT--
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this three-session workshop covering different techniques on painting a variety of trees. This class will also briefly touch on techniques for painting grass and snow and will touch on atmospheric perspective and how to paint trees and layers of trees at a distance. Chris will also demonstrate use of different color palettes for fall leaves or different tree species.
This class will cover basics on color mixing, blending, and layering with Acrylic Paints and will utilize different paint brushes.
For the first two dates of this class, participants will practice painting multiple different trees, grass, & snow and will learn how to mix and layer paints to achieve the proper effects. Chris will demonstrate how to use different colors to indicate fall leaves. Students will learn the basics on painting standard tree shapes such as oak, pine, willow, palm, and birch trees in these sessions.
For the third date, participants will learn how to layer and cluster trees in regards to atmospheric perspective and distance.
Please note that this class is for learning and practicing the skills to paint trees. Chris will demonstrate the techniques step by step and participants will practice the techniques demonstrated. Chris will help where needed and be able to offer guidance. Chris will also address common painting mistakes and how to correct them.
This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience is required. All supplies necessary for the class are provided. Chris will have a supply list and notes available on the first class date if participants wish to practice at home.

***COVERED BRIDGE DOODLE PAINTING WORKSHOP***
Join Instructor Chris Davis for this one-day workshop covering techniques on painting miniature minimalistic Covered Bridges using watercolor paints and markers.
For this class, Chris will demonstrate how to create covered bridge paintings on cardstock in this loose minimalistic doodle style. Chris will also demonstrate basic watercolor techniques. Participants will practice the techniques demonstrated and Chris will help where needed. Participants may practice as much as they need during the time frame and may bring photos of covered bridges to use as reference. By the end of this session, participants will leave with their practice pages as well as up to two complete covered bridge paintings (one painting in the winter season with snow and one in summer with grass and leaves) on 4x6 paper. ***GUIDED PAINTING: RAIN BOOTS & SUNFLOWERS***
Join Chris Davis for this Spring themed rain boots and sunflowers painting step by step! This painting is fully customizable and participants may use whatever colors they would like for the entire picture. Participants in this class will learn how to create this painting from a blank canvas and will learn techniques on sketching the basic composition of this picture as well as techniques on painting different textures such as wood tones, grass, flowers, and adding shadows and glare to shiny objects. This lesson focuses on acrylic painting techniques such as color layering, blending, and mixing.
