This page will contain information about my upcoming public art classes. Public Art Classes may be at different locations throughout Ashtabula County & Northeast Ohio so please look at the class descriptions to see locations and registration information.
Some classes are for children and some classes are adult only, or are offered for both children and adults. Parents/Guardians are always welcome to stay during kids classes.
A few notes on registering for public classes:
Please make note of the location & time of the class you wish to attend. I offer classes at multiple different locations throughout Northeast Ohio and each location has different registration guidelines.
Please note that I DO NOT handle registration for ANY of my classes. Messaging/emailing/commenting to me specifically does NOT count as registering for a class, you must register as directed in the specific class descriptions through the venues that classes are offered at.
Please do not wait until last minute to sign up for classes you wish to take. Seating is generally limited in most classes. Also, if there is not enough sign ups to conduct a class within a few days of the class beginning, the class is usually cancelled or postponed.
Walk ins are generally not permitted in my classes unless specified. If you are not registered for class prior to the day of class, there will not be an open seat set up for you. I only set up for the number of registered participants. You will most likely not be able to participate UNLESS open seats are available due to no-shows AND I have enough supplies.
If you register for a class that you cannot attend or no longer wish to take, please contact the venue of where the class is being hosted for a refund. Each venue has different policies on timelines for refunds. If you register for a class and do not show up without attempting to contact the venue either via phone call, voicemail, email, social media, etc., you WILL NOT receive a refund for the class.
***KIDS MIXED MEDIA CRAFT CLASS: ANT COLONY***
Join Mr. Davis for this quick Saturday afternoon Arts & Craft class making a picture of a custom ant colony! This class focuses on composition and balance within art as well as fine motor skills to create textures and collage paper together to create this image. There is also a drawing portion of this project to add our ants and other objects within the colony. This class is open to all ages, kids and adults, and would make for a great family time together!
Date: Saturday May 9, 2026 at Noon and will end around 1:00pm
Ages: Open to ALL ages, adults and kids. Children under 5 years old MUST have a parent/guardian accompanying them to assist.

***SUNFLOWERS INSPIRED BY VAN GOGH***
Join Mr. Davis for this step by step painting class creating sunflowers, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's sunflowers series!
Participants of this class will learn about acrylic painting techniques such as color blending, mixing, and layering as well as a brief tutorial of sketching to create their own custom vases and sunflowers. This project is customizable and participants may use whatever colors they wish and may add however many sunflowers to their vase they'd like. All supplies for the painting are provided, including 8x10 canvas boards. This class is open to all ages and would make for a great family time together! This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience required!
Date: Saturday May 9, 2026 at 2:00pm and will end between 3:00pm-4:00pm
Ages: Open to ALL ages, adults and kids. Children under 5 years old MUST have a parent/guardian accompanying them to assist.

***GUIDED PAINTING: DRAGONFLY IN THE MOONLIGHT***
Join Chris Davis for this night time themed dragonfly painting step by step! This painting is fully customizable and participants may use whatever colors they would like for the entire picture. Participants in this class will learn how to create this painting from a blank canvas and will learn techniques on sketching the basic composition of this picture as well as techniques on painting different textures such as the moon, distant trees, water, and wings of a dragonfly. This lesson focuses on acrylic painting techniques such as color layering, blending, and mixing.
All supplies for the painting are provided, including participants choice of 11x14 canvas or Slate (if available). Feel free to bring snacks and wine! This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience required!
Date: Friday May 15, 2026 at 6pm and will end around 8-9pm
Ages: 18+ (21 to drink) (Teenagers under the age of 18 are able to take the class if accompanied by a responsible adult who is also taking the class).

***GUIDED PAINTING: SAIL BOAT ON THE LAKE***
Join Chris Davis for this lake themed painting step by step! Participants in this class will learn how to create this painting from a blank canvas and will learn techniques on sketching the basic composition of this picture as well as techniques on painting sunsets and water. This lesson focuses on acrylic painting techniques such as color layering, blending, and mixing.

***JELLYFISH ART WITH OIL PASTELS***
Join Chris Davis for this fun Saturday afternoon Art Class making Jellyfish with oil pastels! Participants will learn the steps to free-draw a jellyfish composition, free-hand and use oil pastels to add color. This class will cover basic oil pastel techniques such as blending and laying. Participants may use whatever colors they’d like for the full picture. All supplies for the class are provided. This class is open to kids and adults, and would make for a great family time together! This is a beginner friendly project, no prior experience required!

***MINI CANVAS WORKSHOP: DONUT***
Join Chris Davis to learn how to paint a realistic picture of a donut, step by step! This painting is fully customizable and participants may use whatever colors they would like. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to do a quick, easy, and inexpensive painting and is an excellent introduction to Acrylic Paints. This short class will give a brief introduction to Acrylic Paint techniques such as color mixing, blending, and layering as well as demonstrate how to achieve different textures such as shadows, frosting, sprinkles, etc. This class will only take about an hour or less.
All supplies for the painting are provided, including a small 4x6 canvas board! This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience required! This class is open to adults and children age 5+ and would make for fun family time together!
Date: Saturday May 23, 2026 at 2pm and will finish around 3pm.
Ages: 5+ (class open to all ages, adults too! Children under age 5 must have an adult to assist them)

***PAINT YOUR PET: ANIMAL PORTRAITURE WITH ACRYLIC PAINTS WORKSHOP***
Join Animal Portrait Artist & Instructor Chris Davis for this three-day workshop painting a custom headshot portrait of your own pet (or whatever animal you want!) using acrylic paint!
For this class, Chris will demonstrate how to look at a reference image and reproduce it as a simple sketch to use for the painting. Topics that will be primarily addressed in this portion include shape, form, proportion, and composition. Once the sketching component is complete, Chris will guide participants through color blocking with paint to get the main shapes, colors, values, and tones established. Chris will demonstrate how to achieve different textures with Acrylic Paint such as different fur tones and patterns. Color mixing , blending, layering, dry brushing, acrylic wash, and other common painting techniques will be demonstrated. Lastly, Chris will assist participants in how to add the final details to bring the portrait to life.
Please note that this class involves a lot of independent work as each person will be painting their own picture and using whatever colors they would like. Chris Davis will demonstrate basic techniques and examples to the class and assist each person independently as needed. Some prior drawing and/or painting experience is preferred but not completely necessary for this workshop (paint parties and sip & paints count as prior experience!). It would be advantageous to take Chris Davis' "Introductory Sketching: Animal Figures" May 2026 course before this workshop if possible.

All supplies for this class are provided including participant's choice of 11x14 or 12x12 canvas. Participants must bring a photo of their pet/animal to class to use as reference. Printed photos are preferred as it is oftentimes more difficult to try working from a phone screen. Please ensure the photo is a clear, good quality, headshot of the animal. If a reference image is poor quality, poorly lit, or doesn't represent the animal as a good angle, creating a painting will be significantly more difficult. This class is focusing on how to look at a main reference photo and making it into a painting, so ensure the photo you bring is of the animal at the angle/pose you want the painting to be of.

Join Chris Davis for this Patriotic themed gnome painting step by step! This painting is fully customizable and participants may use whatever colors they would like for the entire picture (participants can use different colors for background, clothes, beard, etc. Participants in this class will learn how to create this painting from a blank canvas and will learn techniques on sketching the basic composition of this picture as well as techniques on painting different textures such as the wood, grass, hair, etc. This lesson focuses on acrylic painting techniques such as color layering, blending, and mixing.
All supplies for the painting are provided, including participants choice of 11x14 canvas or Slate (if available). Feel free to bring snacks and wine! This is a beginner friendly class, no prior experience required!
